PRICE DROP NOW $600 - Peltier cooled Meade DSI III colour

Hi guys,

For sale is my modified meade DSI III colour, which has a custom made aluminium box for adjustable cooling of the TEC and the external fan. It also has a dessicant system, where dessicant is placed inside the small canister which works really great against any sort of dew. This system achieves an approximate temperature drop of about 20 C below ambient without the worry of dew. Its great for getting rid of noise, and has the same sony ccd chip that is found in more expensive ccd cameras. With these modifications it performs really nicely and darks are not an issue.

It comes with all the original accessories, CDROM, etc the only thing i dont have is the original box. Its in great condition and it can be easily converted back to its original condition if you wanted to. The TEC system is powered by a normal cigarette lighter plug and I have detailed instructions of the modifications that I will also include.

The Meade DSI III does not require the TEC to operate, it can work just as any normal DSI III so think of the TEC cooling as an added bonus that allows the camera to work at lower temperatures if required.

Also included is a Mogg Adapter and an Asahi Pentax 135mm f3.5 lens, this is a great combination for piggyback widefield imaging without the need for a telescope.

WAS - $850

NOW - $600

Cheers
Matt

I forgot to mention this sale also comes with a Mogg adapter, so you can screw the DSI straight into the back of the adapter, and use it for wide field imaging with any SLR lens. It has a pentax K mount however if have a different type of lens, you can get an adapter to allow attachment of your lens.

Hi, What specifically are the mods that have been done, and who did them.

It was originally a kit from www.teccooling.com however most of the kit has been replaced with upgraded components and works much better. The TEC was replaced with a much larger one, an adjustable power supply was custom made in the aluminum box, and an additional heatsink was added underneath the external fan. It then had the dessicant system added to it to take care of any dew, so it performs really nicely. It is one of a kind and these mods were performed by the original owner. I hope this answers you questions.

I will accept $850 for the camera. The DSI III alone costs $1200 new + the mods that have been done to it makes this excellent value.

Now included with the sale is a Asahi Pentax 135mm f3.5 lens. This lens is in excellent condition and free from fungus. I have updated the original post with new pictures showing the lens. With this configuration the camera can be used completely on its own without the need for a telescope for widefield shots.
