Apollo conspiracy theories -- is this the end??

Hi All,

Let's hope so.

I think this image is one of the final nails in the coffin.

Learned about this via the Spaceref newsletter today.

Latest LRO images clearly resolve at a level down to 50cm/pixel the descent stage and other equipment left behind by Apollo 17 Astronauts on lunar surface at Taurus Littrow.

the story and image is here:

http://www.onorbit.com/node/1658

Hopefully, very soon, people who visit at Sydney Observatory will no longer be asking "You don't really believe Apollo went to the Moon ... do you?

Best,

Les D

or have NASA very cleverly "photoshoped" it in ??

(Insert "tongue-in-cheek emoticon here)

They will always not believe. The only way is to take the leader of the cult to the moon and see for themselves. When he gets back more than likely be called a traitor.

NASA are just releasing photoshopped images since its the 40th anniversary of the landings this year

Really amazing pictures though. Have looked at the ones in last few astro mags i've bought a few times but these are even more impressive.

Well is seems pretty conclusive to me. . . . . Nasa have employed some really good photographic editors!!!!

Na Just kidding. Hopefully when china make it there they land near one of the Apollo landings and then live feed back to earth of the Decent module and put their flag next to an american one. That will shut em up!!!

You would think so. But alas, I fear Buzz Aldrin will still need to punch the odd conspiracy theorist in the face, from time to time.

I like the Little Britain take on the subject of the moon conspiracy. Hilarious.

Firstly, my position is as a moon landing believer, unswayable.
But, one thing bugs me....

Probably an urban myth but I remember reading something once
about spy satellites being able to read number plates from orbit.
How high would one of those be?
Anything from low polar orbit and 300-400kms up to maybe
Iridium type altitudes.

If some of these probes have the latest in imaging technology, why aren't they sharper,
especially with an orbit of only 50kms?

Mike and people like Ralph Vandenberg regularly get ISS with
gobsmacking clarity from a hand guided 'webcam' and the closest
that ever comes is what, 200-300 miles up?
Hardly cutting edge imaging technology.
They resolve solar panels and heat exchanger panels on something
about as big as few semi trailers in size.

Why aren't the images clearer?

Steve

My TAFE teacher swore that it was hoaxed and he was a very smart cookie when it came to IT stuff. Surely he cant ignore this anyway he is a HUGE Mythbusters fan and they had already proved that humans had been there here is the link.

You don’t really believe they're genuine pictures of the equipment left behind by the Apollo 17 Astronauts on the lunar surface at Taurus Littrow do you? Maaannnn how many bullet casings you reckon they found on the grassy knoll. Get real?

Yes one again modern technology is putting big holes in some good stories.
Remember the "face on Mars"? proof of alien structures?

The present Keyhole series (KH11-14) of recon satellites orbit at around 300kms. They use cameras with 2.4m mirrors and short focal lengths to take their piccies. They can easily pick out a license plate from orbit. The Lacrosse satellites have even better resolution...10cm from 400-600kms.

Their resolutions are that good, you could give them the finger and they'd be able to take a piccie of it
