Stellarium accuracy

Hi everyone,


I have read last year's thread about stellarium software accuracy (though I'm not sure if it was in the present forum section) about light speed simulation accuracy on the same software.

Does anyone know if light speed calculation is possible with Io and Jupiter (Roemer, approx. 1700) using this software?

I have tried without any result at all... i.e. The Io revolution period appears always the same, even with different earth's position (towards Jupiter or from the planet... (Unnecessary to mention that I've already toggled the light speed simulation flag)

Does anyone have any idea?

Stellarium uses the standard algorithms to calculate the solar system positions and places them at the positions that they occupy in real time.

The positions as seen from earth, or any other position in space depend on the time light from the object takes to arrive to the viewer. This is a secondary calculation that is performed using the distance and speed of light of the objects to see the viewed position.

As far as I know these calculations are performed correctly but there could be errors that have not been discovered. If the view you see does not agree with what you expect please make a request in the bug reporting area.
