'The Thing From Another World' ABC2 10.15pm tonight

The tv guide says it's a classic, but I don't remember this one.
I might have a peek at it.

It's a classic Molly, but nowhere near as good as the remake by John Carpenter aka "The thing". The 1951 version kept a lot of the stuff from John W Campbells 'who goes there' book out (both stories are based on this novel). The original is a monster movie, the remake focuses more on the psychology of it all - man trusting man, and so on and so forth. One of my favourite films to be honest.

That reminds me, I meant to get a copy of The wolfman and Dracula on DVD from JB hifi today, doh! And I still need to get a copy of Metropolis too. And the original Hunchback of Notre Dame. I like classic movies!

Dave

edit: corrected date of release of film from 1954 to 1951!

it's good, but John Carpenter's remake is far better imho. No comparison.

Some information on the book (and movies) here:

be warned, John Carpenter's remake is VERY gory in parts. Not for the feint of heart imho. Some classic scenes though, which result in some classic quotes from the actors lol!

Prior to The Thing From Another World was Psycho. A great evening of nostalgia. The incredible thunder and lightning show outside across north west Melbourne added to the atmosphere.
