Panthera Leo

Gday some pics of the Lions at Perth Zoo. I must admit I'm like a big kid when I go there I always head to first to either the Tiger and Lion enclosure. The Zoo was pretty busy that day with school tours going though so it was a little hard getting good vantage points plus the lighting inside the enclosure was tricky with intermittent cloud cover breaking into full sunlight. At the moment the Zoo has two seven year old male Lions {brothers} and one 14 year old Lioness, fortunately on the day they were moderately active. Used a nikon 300mm f/4 lens with a 1.4 teleconverter along with a monopod

Nice shots Stuart – most of them don’t have any indication that they were taken at a zoo and one can easily imagine these amazing beats relaxing in the wild somewhere in Africa.

The yawn in photo 2 is amazing – good timing!

Cheers

Dennis

PS – the lush greenery is quite incredible; the grass in SE Qld looks brown and frazzled due to the lack of rain.

G'day Stuart,

Great captures mate, I love visiting the zoo too.
My wife took the kids the other day but I had to stay home due to work commitments.
The kids came back with heaps of photos though, Liz will probably logon and post some of her's later.

You've done a great job with these, did you get any other animals while you were there?

Stu,

Great shots. I really like the 3rd one. They're such elegant animals.
