Skyscan needs more work

Over the last couple of months the skyscan has been locking up dew to the RA motor stopping while tracking....sometimes it only takes about half an hour then I need to reboot the skyscan and realign...even though this was frustrating it was the pec training you lose if this happens.

So its going back to the tech in Sydney...he wants both the skyscan and EQ6...he is going to change the motors and boards ( I hope) so he says....and update to 2.05a

Atleast I have my portable set up I can play with some widefield to keep me sane.

Wont get it back for about 2 weeks.

It sounds like these Eq6 + SkyScan mounts aren't all they're cracked up to be going by all the trouble people have been having lately. If I had my time again I probably wouldn't have got one, too late to worry about that now!

So far I have had no problems, But I would like the ability to sync. I am happy thus far. But I wont say Meade or any other manufacturer has got it one hundred percent spot on either. Electronics, physical connections and other influences can make anything stuff up, just ask NASA.

Hope you get it back soon Tony, what's the different with version 2.05a and 2.05 ?????

I have searched around, but seems any info regarding versions of SkyScan is vague and hard to find....

Probably nothing...2.05 or 2.05a are probably the same...I had 2.04a but 2.05 is suppose to be a bit more accurate expecialy after doing a 3 star alignment...

They say its better for us in the southern hemisphere....

I found just by doing a 1 star alignment was more accurate then doing a 3 star....version 2.05 is suppose to fix this.

how much does it cost to get this upgrade Tony? mine is only a month old, would that be upgraded under warranty?

Shouldn't cost you anything Huffy.....updates should be free....specialy considering you just purchased it.
