first dso attempts
Nothing else to do because of the weather so I thought I have a play with some images I took over the last couple of months. These are all single 30sec exposure jpgs taken from my backyard with a Pentax *istDS piggyback on an LX90.
Not much but its a start, cant wait to try my ED80, had it 3weeks now.......

I'd also be interested if anyone can identify the first 2 pictures, they just came into view so I clicked away.
Thanks for looking.
Chris

Thanks ving, probably obvious to the experts.
I thought that might be the second one after checking against CDC for the region I was browsing.

Nice clean shots Chris. Good capture of the background dust and good crisp stars
Are you sure about that first one ving
I put M7 (Ptolemy's cluster) in the middle and M6 (Butterfly cluster) at the lower right.

Very nice pics there. How does the Pentax noise reduction work, does it take a dark frame itself then subtract it in-camera?
Id be interested in seeing how it handles some longer shots, say 5 mins. Even if unguided star trails with the lens stopped down, would be interesting to see how effective the dark subtraction is, because it looks very good with these shots now, no sign of noise .

I thought that M7 was the Butterfly cluster for a long time to ving. It always looked more like a butterfly to me than M6 did.

Yes as you say it takes and subtracts a dark frame for each image.
See review page 17 at

When the weather breaks I will try try some longer shots, I also want to try some wider angle shots with an 18mm and a fast f1.7 50mm.

Thanks for the comments guys, given me the desire for more, but I'm sticking with the PENTAX and the Olly. Oh and the LPI.
