[NOT REQUIRED] Wanted HP 32E

Wanted:

An HP 32E calculator in good working order. It is for my son to use - his school disallows programmable calculators, and he wants an RPN. Willing to pay the going rate for one is good condition. Prefer a US or Singapore built one (where the thousands are separated by commas, not dots).

I am in Australia.

I have an HP 32E which has not been used for some time, but I assume it still works. The batteries are dead so I can't test it at the moment.

Let me know if you're interested and how much you'd be willing to pay (including shipping from the US).

LOL! I wish I'd asked the question! The HP32E was my first RPN calculator, and I bought one new in 1979 for my HSC because of the same reason - it was capable, but not programmable. If you guys don't end up hooking up - please let me know and I'll buy it!

Chris,

I bought an HP 32E in 1980, and I had to return/swap it 6 !!! times to HP in Blackburn (where they used to be) - I think it was a bad batch of units. HP gave me a 33C instead in the end, and my school let me use that in my 1981 HSC exams

Betty replied, and I agreed to purchase it from her.

I've tried to find an emulator, but there isn't one for the 32E perse, and even with my 12C and 41C emulators, they just aren't the real thing. I love the tactile keyboards that HP used - and still do on some models. Back to eBay and my real 12C!

There *is* actually a free emulator - specifically for the hp32e !

Chris, you could contact the author - he only released this in May this year, so development is still active. He is keen to get feedback, see:

He also has faithfully created emulators for other oldies, like the 31E, 29C, etc.

Nearest thing is i41CX+ on an iPhone, which includes an emulated printer and can download and install ROM images.

Does it all except for the tactile keys, and on the iPhone it feels pretty good in the hand.

Yay! I picked up a 32E off eBay for US$28.00. Bargain! It's not working becuase the battery terminals have broken off. An easy fix.

Question - I can't remember what battery it used to take - rechargable I seem to remember. Can this be substituted with a normal set of NiCDs?

Hi Guys,

Yeah i have all the range of the HP from HP10C right up to the latest ones now HP50G+... Great calculators...

But the only thing i am not willing to part with them, i can advise you that Ebay is great so you might want to look there...

Sorry just can let them go... I know that the HP10C is now worth about $190... thats a price which has sky rocketed when i bought it for $20 bucks..

I still have my HP-67 I got when I was at Uni.

The museum says introduced 1976 but I'd left by then. I think it must have been 1974.

Both the 67 and 32e emulators run in Wine after installing MSVBVM50.DLL.

Ahhh nostalgia. Things aren't what we think they used to be.

I have the HP48G, was also banned from exams because it has InfraRed comms. Imagine an exam room full of calculators that could communicate with each other lol.
Never could get used to RPN tho.
