Most of LMC

Finally had a two hour window last night of no Moon and no cloud.
LMC 6X330sec ISO800,Hutech Nebula Filter, noise removed in Photoshop, stacked with Registar. It doesn't have the beautiful detail that Tornado's fine picture has but gives a wider view.Taken with Canon 300mm at F2.8 piggybacked and autoguided.

http://users.bigpond.net.au/avandonk/LMC_1.jpg

So enjoy looking at all the fuzzies.

Bert

I am going to make a mosaic to get the whole LMC.The final JPG of this image is
5.2M. from a 24M TIFF.We can then think about printing at poster size. All I need is Moonless and cloudless clear nights.

No it is a stock 20D.I am seriously thinking of getting a Hutech modified Canon 20D.Would really like a modified 5D,but they are not available just yet.
The nice thing about the modified cameras is they are four times more sensitive at H Alpha.

another quick question.... where did you buy your eyepeice extension for the camera from? also does it magnify your view or is it an extender only? If it is the magnifer how do u find it compared to looking through the normal view finder? Im looking at getting one myself!

It's called a Canon Angle Finder C.It has two magnifications 1.25 and 2.5.I find it invaluable for focusing (x2.5).I used to use a stepping motor ( See picture) for focusing the lens. This involved taking a series of short exposures and seeing where focus was. Then it was a simple matter to go back as the focus position is known.Of course the Angle Finder C works with any lens or telescope. It also saves on neck strain etc as it can be rotated.
