How the media really works.

It is an accepted practice of "re-enacting" scenes for the news or current affairs programs, garden makeover shows, etc.

A reporter or a "backyard make-over" personality with a camera crew knocks on a door and "surprises" the resident. Looks like it's all ad-libbed and a total surprise to the residents until there is a second camera shot from inside the house. How did that second camera get inside without the resident knowing??

Remember those annual news reports on the nightly news of year 12 students waiting anxiously at the letterbox for their results? The postie arrives... hands the letter to the awaiting student... he/she opens the letter... and jumps up and down hugging Mum with the good news Set up of course, for the camera.

Now, I know that some of you will realise that this sort of thing goes on often, but a majority of the viewing public would never give it a second thought. From working in the media for many years, I saw this sort of thing happen all the time with camera crews and journos.

That's another reason why you can't trust the media...so much of it is put on for the cameras. People are just too gullible...that's why they get sucked in so often. No critical thought going on at all.

Im always disregard seeing this sort of stuff happen, i know it's all for the camera.....it's amazing watching Media Watch on ABC about all the stuff happening through the media.
I remember that American chap that A Current Affair found when he was wandering through the Australian outback and had Search & Rescue after him as well. Oh what a story that ACA found him, but when i watched Media Watch and saw HOW CH9 got the footage of that i was disgusted.....i NEVER watch A Current Affair anymore as their stories are crap, the footage is crap and the truth is seldom often told, and the outcomes are bull**** as well. Some ACA segments talk about a particular problem, then right at the end they say that it's all sorted .....so why air the bloody segment?????

Ridiculous or should i say RIDICULI?

Yep, I agree. I worked for a large TV network when "Frontline" was screened on the ABC in the 1990's. At the time, all the ACA spin doctors (including Ray Martin) could keep saying was "that sort of thing never happens in real current affairs shows". Inside the station we were all saying the complete opposite!

I strongly recommend such satirical productions as Frontline, The Games, and The Hollowmen. These programs are an insight to the machinations of worlds of media an spin doctoring.

Media Watch has its critics, and my conclusion of them is that they are critics of MW simply because these people have been caught out in some way in their media activities.
