Animation of Juno near Uranus, Sep 18-20 2009

Hi all,

Here's a quick image of the asteroid Juno and Uranus taken last night. This is a few 15 second exposures taken with a tripod-mounted K100d and 70-300mm lens, and stacked using DSS. The FOV in this cropped image is about 6 degrees. It was nice to see Juno in binoculars from light polluted Brisbane.

EDIT: I've just added an animation that shows the movement of Juno over 2 days. Hope you like it!

Cheers,
Stephen

Nice work Stephen, to capture these two in the same field. You constantly amaze me with the variety of objects you manage to take photos of – I enjoy looking at them and appreciate your efforts.

Cheers

Dennis

Well done Stephen,

It really is amazing just how much useful work can be done in astronomy without a telescope.

Regards
Trevor

Thanks very much Dennis and Trevor!

I took another set of images last night (after being clouded out on Saturday), which enabled me to put together a little animation showing the movement of the asteroid over 48 hrs. It's attached to the first post in this thread.

I enjoy putting these little animations together! And it still amazes me that it can be done using just a tripod-mounted dSLR.

Cheers,
Stephen

Fantastic! Well worth the effort Stephen, I really enjoyed the animation! Would be great to have a few more days of movement shown if it wasn't for the clouds.

Keep them coming..
