Nice Surprise

Hi All

I have been layed up with a fractured ankle for the last month and haven't been doing any astro stuff or anything else much for that matter . The other day I got a nice surprise when my lady brought the latest issue of Australian Sky and Telescope Magazine in from the mail box ... this could mean only one thing as I don't subscribe to the magazine ... one of my images had been published ... my Ha image of the Tarantula Nebula.

So if anyone from Aus Sky and Tel is reading this I thank you for the surprise and the magazine, it will give me something to read whilst my ankle is on the mend and I will add it to my collection of published images.

Cheers

What a great little bit of unexpected chuffness thanks for sharing it Steve.

Sorry to hear about the ankle mate how did it happen?

It's not only the Moon that can get in the way of astronomising huh?

Mike

Ah, Congrats Steve !
I didn't realise it was your image, well done mate.

I was wondering where you've been lately, haven't noticed you around much.
Hope you make a full recovery.

Great result Steve, you must have been chuffed to see your efforts! I was layed up for weeks with a similar injury. I went absolutely stir crazy.

Thanks all

Thanks for all your well wishes guys and gals ... I had staples removed and a new fibreglass cast fitted today ... still no weight bearing for a further 4 weeks at least so won't be doing anything much.

In reply to Mike ... I was taking photos of a waterfall near my home and slipped on a wet rock It just shows how easily these things can happen.

Cheers ALL ....... I'll catch up with things astro later.

Your predicament reminds me of an incident back in my strongman days. I was training for a big National competition and it was 4 weeks out, I was doing runs (or waddles really) over a 25m course carring 220kg between my legs (only a little more than is usually there ) and went over on my right ankle..so I was 128kg at the time + the 225kg = 353kg on my ankle. It popped but didn't break. I was devistated and initially thought well there goes 12 weeks of training, I have no chance ... Well, I took 4 days off work and applied the RICE priciple (Rest, Ice Compression and Elevation) religiously, then bought a lase up ankle brace and was back carrying upto 300kg with in two weeks (I avoided turning corners with that sort of weight though, up until the contest). I competed in the contest but was understandibly behind the eight ball . However ...and the point of this story...the 4 days at home on the couch gave me new insight into daytime televison

Hope AS&T was insightful too

Mike

You mean, you caught up on 15 years worth of Days of Our Lives?
