North American Nebula and the Pelican

Hi
Here is a shot of NGC7000 that I took with a WO Megrez 72 mounted on a CGE11.The shots were unguided. I took 9 x 5 minute subs with a Canon 450D and an Astronomik CLS clip filter. Stacked in DSS and processed in Gimp.
I have a field flattener for the Megrez on order.

Nice one John - you've managed to bring out the nebula despite short subs / exposure. It's a bit limiting when they're unguided - I'm also taking unguided subs with my 200mm Newtonian. You should find that the flattener will tighten up all the stars nicely when you get it. I use a Paracorr on a 200mm Newtonian and it works very well.

The nebula is looking OK but you have to start thinking about guiding to get a tighter image.

Keep up the good work.

Nice image John but you definitely need the flattener as the image is showing up serious field curvature.
