Jupiter, August 27

All,

Here is an image from a few days ago (August 27) showing the remains of the impact debris. It's really very interesting
how it's spread out into two thin ribbons and seems to be wrapped around some large ovals that are not all that visible by themselves.

The seeing was not all that good for this image, and we've had nonstop cloud and rain ever since :-(

regards, Bird

Any plans to make up an animation of the entire event Anthony?
I know it's placing yet another job on the to-do list, but wouldn't it be interesting to watch it from the initial strike to final dispersal.

Welcome back Anthony,

Very appropriate that you were able to snag an image of the death throes of your event. Sounds like your weather has been a bit different from that of Cairns.

Conditions are looking promising for tonight out this way.

How is the 16" going?

Regards
Trevor

Great stuff Anthony, nice to see you back.

I feel like i've been on holidays too - haven't captured an image in weeks, due to low motivation (even when the skies have been clear).

When the motivation returned, of course the skies became cloudy and very very windy!

Looks ok for tonight if the wind stays away.

Thanks all - Jeanette I've been away on hols for 2 weeks, so there's a big gap in my data. You can see a nice animation here:

Trevor, the 16" blank has arrived, I drove up to Berowra on Saturday an dropped it off to Mark. Still some way to go yet...

Mike, we've had gale force winds here several times in the last week, I was wondering if we were going to lose our roof...

cheers, Bird
