Meade and Pentax suppliers

I know Bintel supplies Meade eyepieces, are there any other suppliers in Australia?

And can Pentax be bought locally, or are they only available by importing them yourself?

Star optical in Qld, thats where I got my meade 5000 from, and Rob C got his pentaxes from there I believe

Star Optics don't list the Meade s5000's, although they do have the Pentax's. Wow $479 for the 14mm XW. Not cheap.

Astro-Optical list the s5000 Meade's, but not the price.. grr.

Vs $465 for a 13mm nagler type 6 . At these higher price levels considerable savings can be had by buying from overseas.

Just call Lex and ask him for a price Mike, I did very well on my Meades with the discount I got at Qld Astrofest.

Pentax XL's are good value on the 2nd hand market at about $210US on average.

Meade Series 5000 are available through Adelaide Optical but I will not trade with them again. Their service is Ok but their prices are sky high.

As for the series 5000. I have a 6.7UWA that I believe is not as good as the TV Nagler type 6. Did some serious observing with it the other night and was sure as were other present that it was lesser quality than the TV 9mm EP I have. However that being said, it is still pretty good and for the price it is worth the expence.

Star Optics sell both Meade and Pentax eyepieces...dont go by the list price ring Lex or Chris they are very competitive on prices...and say Striker sent you.....lol
