desk lamp

i have a cheap desk lamp in my pod white light with red cellaphone taped over it crap idea what does every body else use red halogen red led hard to find anything on the net HELP

Is the lamp incandescent or fluro? How low is the wattage Peter? If yo ujust want to cover the opening of the lamp and not the fitting itself then get a sheet of red filter gel that's used in stage lighting. I can show you some at AF. It's cheap and does a great job.

its just a cheap $15 lamp big w had it before the pod i think a 12v 20 watt globe but im willing to buy a good light i looked at strip led and near fell over for a 1metre strip with 12v converter $160 paul theres got to br something out there

If it's only a 12V 20W, as long as the gel isn't too close to the bulb it should be fine. Bring the lamp to AF and we can try it out.

There are good LED lights made for truck side-markers at this site http://www.brightlightautoparts.com/...KER_LAMPS.html

I bought a set and very satisfied. 2 bright red LED's encapsulated in waterproof acrylic inside a red-lensed housing, with just a 12V red and black wire coming out. Very rugged. About 80mm x 40mm housing size, suitable for the side markers of a truck. $21 a pair ex Melbourne.

They're quite bright, so you may want to dim them to suit using a suitable resistor in series.
