Weather getting me down

Sorry to all those posting images at the moment. I am bored to tears with cloud every night for the last couple of months so I have been quite critical of images of late as I have nothing to work on myself. I have time to pull images into PS and be a nasty b****r.
My main intention is to help so please don't hold it against me when I finally get an image of my own to put together.

I think I might have to look at taking pictures of ugly mugs starting with my own.

Sorry everyone. Pray for clear nights in Mt Beauty and I'll leave you alone.
You might guess I'm feeling guilty now. NOT.

It hasn't been much better here, either. Maybe its a mountain thing...

Ahhh, and here as well......

The South West Slopes has been hopeless for months now, at least I saw the moon for the first time in a while last night. That big High has been banking the clouds up against the mountains for what seems an age.

Being the supreme optimist, it's gotta get better .

Cheers

As a resident of cold and cloudy Melbourne, I know exactly how you feel. The situation is identical here. It sucks.

The only solution is to set up an astronomy village in the Pilbara! Who's with me?

Saw Venus this morning! Lovely and bright! Nothing else, just Venus in the only break in the cloud cover!

Perfect discription of our disgusting weather there. Although to be fair, this past July was one of the "better" ones in both temps and sun in recent years, but it's the windchill that made it terrible to be outside.

But I guess that's what we get for living in a climate that's the exact equivalent of the Svalbard Islands

Meanwhile, Sydney has been getting endless clear skies and warmth.....what a surprise there eh

I see Venus almost every morning, even after that thunderstorm we had yesterday morning. It's a recent phenomenon here in Australia's own Iceland, it seems to be somewhat clear in that last hour before sunrise almost every morning. My 4.5" Newt is waiting for such opportunities, but actually getting up is another matter althogether....

Sorry to hear Doug. That must be the price to pay for living in such a beautiful place.

I can still remember camping at Mt Beauty a few times in the caravan park right next to the stream years ago. We never needed ice to keep the milk cold - just tied a rope to it and left it in the water.....

Hope the roof comes of the observatory soon - for you and your wife's sake...

I would've thought that northern Victoria has a better climate....but after checking the July observations for Wangarrata, I was disgusted to see 16 days with measurable rainfall and temps 2C colder than Melbourne during the day and 5C colder at night.....

Time to move to the beautiful warm and sunny Pilbara or Kimberelys me thinks...

I think we all need to setup an astronomy village in the Pilbara, where it's warm and clear for the entire year.
