NGC 1360 Planetary Nebula 1485 FL

This is one of our favourite PN. Image taken 25th July. The PN showed up a nice size in the full frame no need to crop

Details

Very nice. I've seen this one imaged a couple of times but I have to admit this shot in term of colors and details is right up there.

Ah nice B&D, it reminds me of a soft blue cotton wool ball...or a blue Emu Egg....or a chocolate easter egg covered in blue foil or a....

Yes 1485mm FL is close to ideal, very useful and versitile IMO

This one has been on my to do list for a while. You have done it well.

Do you ever have any mirror flop or flexure issues with this setup?

It sure congers up lots of thoughts Mike hadn't thought of a soft blue cotton wool ball though

Regarding the scope. We find the 9.25 to be ideal for the objects we want to image and our setup seems to be doing a good job considering the total price we have outlayed

Hi Ric
We have addressed some of the flexure problems by pier mounting the scope and replacing the EQ6 mount head with a Star Stuff losmandy style saddleplate with puck and dovetail plate with radius blocks. The guidescope is hard bolted to an ADM dovetail bar.

We haven't experienced any mirror flop at all

There are pics of our setup on the equipment page on our PBase web site if you're interested. link is listed in signature below

OK, thanks. That definitely looks like a rigid setup.

Ric

Barb had typed that we had a vixen set up from starstuff, when it is actually a losmandy style set up.

Sorry about that.
