One thing I have noticed about this hobby is the exceptional customer service that our suppliers/retailers give. So far whenever I have dealt with any of the specialist retailers, I have found the service to be exemplary.
The same also seems to apply to oversea suppliers, last week I ordered some bits from Kendrick in Canada that I hadn't been able to source locally. The order turned up today exactly as I ordered!
Yes that's been my experience too. I think it comes down to it being a niche market, and not one that every man and his dog is into to make a quick buck. These businesses are run by people who are passionate about astronomy, and if there's one thing I've learnt about amatuer astronomers, it's that they are always willing to go out of their way to help someone else out.
Awesome stuff! Just wish the prices down here in Aus were a little better at times.
I agree, the service I have received so far has been really really good.
I think these forums play a role too - it's like the eBay feedback system.
We share our stories, and it helps you form an opinion before your commit to your first purchase. This is especially important when you are buying over the the net (or the phone if it's from Andrews )
I must agree as well, In all my dealings with Astro suppliers in Australia and overseas I have always received excellent and timely service and cannot fault any of them.
Just wish the prices down here in Aus were a little better at times.
