DSS help needed

I went to process last nights subs using DSS, as I normally do, and found that
DSS doesn't want to stack them anymore.
Haven't changed any of the settings (knowingly). I've tried putting them through 2 different versions of the program. Tried changing all the files from .raw to .tif. Made no difference. It will only stack a single image.
Any ideas as to what the problem may be??
It has to be something simple for it to change overnight like this.
Yes, I clicked on "check all".

Might have to download IRIS again and see if the problem follows through to that program.

I tried DSS using .RAW files and couldnt get it to work either, only 2 frames would stack. I ended up buying Registax instead.
It didnt make me a better photographer but it will at least stack 100 frames.

I'll try stacking some old subs that processed with no complications.
If it works with them, obviously there is a problem with the way I captured last night.
I usually capture to card then download to the lappy.
Last night I hooked the camera to the lappy for direct download.
Can't see what difference that would make though.

Aha, the old subs processed just fine.
That narrows down things a bit.

try opening the raws in PS and then save them as 16bit tiffs in PS. Then try to run them through DSS and see how you go. Otherwise you could layer the raws in PS to stack them.....lotta work though and always a challenge to get them to align properly if there is any sort of rotation.

Or you could download a trial version of Nebulosity from Stark Labs and see how you go with that.

Ummm.....just while we're on this subject, how the heck do you open Canon 40d raw images(cr2) in Photoshop CS2. If new post required, let me know.
Thanks.

Thanks.

You need to download the RAW plugin for PS and other apps.

You might want to adjust the sensitivity for determining the number of stars. I find that if the number of stars is too low it won't stack any more than 1 frame.

See how you go with that.

Thanks for the input everyone.
I'm converting the .raw to .tiff as I write.
Will look up how to change the star sensitivity. You're not talking about setting the "threshold"?

Yeah, threshold was what I meant. I find the more stars it has the better it stacks (well sort of... considering some of the rubbish I've tried to stack ).

Yes, I told it to stack each and every frame regardless.
The sky's are clear here, I'll just nab some more subs tonight.
A lesson learnt.

Hey JJJ, if you try and stack them in Tiff Format it will take forever, I tried that once and had to wait 1hour and 40 minutes to do 15 frames, just a thought.

Thanks Leon.
I ended up tossing the lot.
I captured more last night to replace them. But.....I must be cursed because I set up the shot then left the camera to do it's thing, trusting the mount to do the same. Then lost the lot AGAIN!. I didn't notice that the galaxy was close to meridian when I started and all the subs got spoiled. I'm such a noob.
