M20 Triffid

Hi,

I thought I would post my effort at the Triffid from last night. Taken with W/O Flt110 through Canon 400d unmod ISO 800 PHD guided. I was unsure of time and think I have blown out stars by doing 10 minute subs. Anyway this is 7 x 10 min lights, 3 x 10 minute darks and bias frames but did not do flats(silly I know). The image is cropped about a quarter I think.

When processing I struggled with a red tinge but removed with adjusting brightness and contrast and moving slightly into the red histogram. I also think my focus might have been slightly off and for some reason I think even though guided my stars are not pinpoint.

Anyway I still think it looks great and it is know the background for my laptop.

Feel free to offer advice.

Thanks

Mark

Quite a nice image Mark, it does however look a little green in the background on our monitors, have you tried lowering the green channel.

Repro of my triffid

Hi,

Here is a second attempt. I think I have managed to bring out more of the reflection nebula. Comments welcome. I have saved this image about three times as each slight change led to what I think is an improvement.

Nice image Mark. Guiding looks good, Focus may be a little soft or just bad seeing. Colour and balance look pretty good to me.

Nice one, Well done.

Mark,

Your last iteration is absolutely fantastic! I just love the gold coloured stars towards the right. Well done, mate.

On my calibrated monitor, there is ever the slightest green tinge still left in parts of the image, but, it's not a major distraction. Something to improve on for next time.

Mmm, yummy ice cream nebulae.

Regards,
Humayun
