Multiple stars in Capricorn plus a small Jupiter.

Hello,

Well, with my feet warm and cosy in my Nisqually boots, I braved the cold night air in Brisbane only to be greeted by what could at best be described as mediocre seeing conditions. Probably a combination of the jet stream and the lower westerly’s, buffeting my rig throughout the session.


I decided to cruise some doubles in Capricorn and plugged in the colour DBK21AF04.AS at the prime focus of the M180. Later on, I slewed to Jupiter and even at this small image scale, Jove was wobbling like the proverbial jelly on a plate.

Your capture is remarkably good considering the conditions.
I wonder what the wind chill factor was last night?
I was out in it too. Toasty warm in my snow gear. Watched the complete transit via the LPI. Bet old Jove lost some weight with all that belly dancing though.

I actually managed to record a 1.4” arcsec split for Pi Aql, (AB: 5.75+6.75 mag, PA 106° Sep 1.40") but this was only noticeable on 2 frames out of the 1500, which gives you some idea of the seeing that night!

Even the might and power of the Mewlon, DBK21AF04, Registax and CS3 combo cannot undo the effects of mediocre seeing! But, I did enjoy warm toes!

I included an image of Jupiter, taken during the same session with the same gear and set up, just to give some sense of scale to the separation between the doubles.
