Talking Wow!

First clear night in ages! And I'm out here going "WOW!"

Just relaxing in the obs, listening to the Floyd, collecting a few spectra, and just in awe of how clear the sky is, with a big splodge of milky way overhead.

Boy! ... have I missed this!

Al.

Pretty clear here too but alas, viewing now too speccy. Glad to hear you're enjoying the night 'just over there', cant wait for a nice one here.

Al it really lifts your spirits and makes any worries just float away doesnt it. Breathe it in. Serenity!!

Your a lucky boy Al. The sky here is riddled with high cloud but for me it doesn't matter as I am stuck at work on night shift for the next 2 nights anyway.

ENJOY.

The cold has got me, now, but it was good while it lasted. It was -3C and foggy when I closed the dome (though I'm toasty warm in my freezer jacket and boots - not cold enough for the freezer pants yet).

I got a few spectra to process, and utterly enjoyed the naked eye views while trapping them.

I was out test driving the new scope tonight as well as following the GRS transit across Jupiter using LPI.
Must be the night for it Al. I listened to all of Meddle, all of Dark Side, most of Animals, a couple from Obscured etc.
We have a balmy 3 degrees tonight. I was rugged up to the hilt.

Ain't it nice to be out amongst it.

Looks like everyone is out... It definatley is clear isn't it??? I was commenting in my other thread on that.. I'm dodging clouds a bit in sydney, but saw my first glob tonight... Wouldn't have a clue what it was but neat anyway!! I hope the rest of the cloud dissolve in the next few hours, want to make the most of this... heading back out...

Had super clear skies here in Brisbane. Jupiter was the best I have ever seen it since getting my new scope. This was about 4am this morning. I could even make out Andromeda galaxy in the Brisbane city lights- now that's something... someone pinch me...

Another superb night here tonight.

I captured a few more spectra, and then put the 13mm Nagler in the scope for a surf abut some old favourites - Omega Cen, 47 Tuc, The Jewel Box, eta car, etc.

I can see by the halo appearing over the neighbours house that the fog is rising though... not much good viewing left.

BTW tonights a Led Zep night!

Al.
