Your number's up

Had some idiot knock on the door last night selling illuminated house numbers for kerbs. Said he was doing "my street", and that the numbers were really bright.

He seemed quite surprised when I suggested a much more suitable position for his light-polluting, energy-wasting product.

Maybe they were glow in the dark numbers ????

Just a thought, but they may help the emergency services find you in a hurry.
It can be a nightmare trying to find places in the dark or just after dark.

Cheers.

In our area private door-to-door people sell "reflective" painted street numbers which they spray on the gutter at the front of your house, using number stencils.

They have approval from the local council, but more importantly, and as an ex-emergency service worker, we found them more practical to locate street numbers because, they were all in the same place at every house: on the gutter 2 metres from the main driveway. Unlike these "illuminated house numbers", which the residents could put them anywhere and may not be seen from the street.
