ISS passing between Mars and Venus, 13 July 09

Hi all,

Here's a shot of the ISS passing the Pleiades, Mars, Venus and the Hyades earlier this morning. Venus appeared as a temporary member of the Hyades today, as seen in this image. Interesting to see how fast it's moving at the moment.

There's also a wider-field view (from Pleiades to Sirius) taken a few minutes later.

It was worth getting up for this, because I witnessed a fantastic alpha Capricornid fireball just before the ISS pass! I posted a description of this in the general chat forum.

Cheers,
Stephen

Aldebaran and Mars look very similar. If you didnt point out the fact that mars was in the hyades I wouldnt have known the difference.

Nice work Stephen, it must have been quite a lovely sight! Are these from your home or do you travel to get the clear horizon?

Cheers

Dennis
