Meade 0.63x reducer + Spacing

I've just got hold of a 0.63x SCT reducer/flattener for my C8 and need to reduce the spacing between the reducer and camera by about 20mm. At the moment I have:

C8 -> Reducer (screwed into male thread at back of scope) -> C8 T-thread adapter -> QHY9

I measured the actual reduction (in my images) at 0.48 so I am operating at a bit shorter focal length than I would like. I could remove the nosepiece from the camera to shorten the spacing, but want to keep the camera airtight.

My question is, is there somebody in Oz that supplies shorter T-thread adapters for SCT's? I need something closer to 30-40mm long.

Terry

The Meade f3.3 (part 07567) comes with a "#61 Variable T-adapter".

The base gives you about 3mm, then there are 15 and 30mm extensions.

Maybe you can buy it separately.

You could try Mogg Adapters, there is a link to their site on these forums, he will do custom machine work for hourly rate, send them an e-mail with what you want and they will give you a price.

Regards Matt.

Thanks guys..I think I found an easy solution - The Orion Camera Adapter for 2" eyepiece holder. You can screw the barrel out and screw it directly onto the back of the reducer - good design!

This should put me back closer to the reducer's sweet spot.

Actually, at f4.8 the C8 does a suprisingly good job. The attached image is the full frame from a QHY9 image of globular NGC6937 made in this configuration. The corners fall apart a bit..but the centre square crop is OK.
