I only have pictures of the finished scope really. I don't want to take the primary out just for a pic. I do have a pic of the mount by itself somewhere. Not sure about prices. I guess anyone interested could make me an offer & then take it from there ?

Ok. I'm going to have a long hard think about prices. As your all probably aware, I'm in 2 minds about selling. I'll think about pricing and post some figures in the next day or 2.

Sorry for mucking anybody around by not having prices etc.

I hate forced sales!

Ok. Just a quick mention of what I paid for this gear on 23/7/03 (not sure what the gear would be worth new to buy now)

Main mirror: $2250
The cell: $270
secondary: $202
Secondary holder: $104
Total: $2826

For those 4 items I'm asking: $1950
Alternatively just for the 2 mirrors without holders: $1700. I think I should take the focuser & home-made spider off the list. Helical focusers are not all that popular these days.

I'm quite willing to negotiate on the prices. Not aposed to a small ed 80 or something like that thrown in instead of some $$ either.
Oh...the EQ mount: $750

Oh yes, I realize that netwolf. $1000 dobs for nearly the same aperture is pretty hard to compete with. If this guy buys it he won't be sorry, that I guarantee.

OTA only by the sounds of it, so I'll be left with a motorised mount with nothing to put on it. Unless I put the 6" refractor on it!!

You can get 16" made/grinded and hand figured for only an etrxa $950.00 by one of Australia's best. Or an 18" for another $900.00 more.

Well hell...I had a buyer for this (tomorrow morning) & I've just done a 180 & backed out of the deal!! To put it simply: I can't bring myself to let her go.

This guy is going to be browned off with me no doubt.

John, you have to sell it anyway coz you are moving overseas. You might not get another buyer in time.

I know mate...Not sure what to tell you, I just could not force myself to do it, despite the consequences. I just can't give her up. Sounds crazy I know!

Building a scope like this was a dream come true for me, so I'm finding it pretty hard to face facts. That & selling it for a third of what I paid for it is hard to stomach!

Yes, that scenerio has always been in the back of my mind, just the mirrors though. Re-build the mount etc from scratch again.

The other alternative is sell to the bloke tomorrow and get new gear in America. The new GS16" will be affordable and make an EQ mount for it!

Or get an SCT. They are certainly cheaper over there.
