Anyone could confirm the LPS-P2-FF1 from Hutech is a right choice for dealing with LP in Melbourne?
This orange background glow is getting to my nerves recently
The price is still a bit high for my taste, so I am waiting for AU$ to recover a bit more..
In the meantime, I will appreciate any comments, favourable or not..
Sodium-Vapour lighting emits around 589.0 and 589.6nm(5890 and 5896 Angstroms)

Note the LPS-P2 cuts well at 5990.
The problem is whether your LP is from low or high pressure sodium. The LPS is great for low pressure(very orange lighting - almost monochromatic), not as good for High pressure sodium(still orange-ish pink but not quite as strong)
Stand under an LPS streetlight and your skin-tone looks kinda grey, if you have orangey-pink skin, its HPS lighting.
Under a HPS light greens and blues(ink on paper etc) are still visible.
The LPS-P2 will still help with the HPS lights tho as the bulk of the emission is in the sodium lines, but there's extra lines in the blue green etc from mercury that will still pass the filter.
The FF1 is a front filter clip in. Some users have had reflection problems when using the clip in filter with EF lenses and you can only use it with a canon camera. The LPS-P2-48 is the same filter in a 2" casing.

Yeah SOR too, Rockingham, just had the power dropped underground in my area too, now there's easily 2 or 3 times as many street lights as before, each of them brighter than before.
One now shines directly into my backyard, only saving grace is it overheats or something and turns itself off around 7pm.
Hope none of the neighbours reports it and it never gets fixed!
I made a comparison between the Hutech LPS and the Astronomik CKS filter and for my Taste I prefer the Astronomik CLS filter.
Why ? The LPS has a light reddish tint after some time and the Astronomik after the same time has a slight blueish tint. A bluesish tint from my develop experience is easier to remove then a reddish tint.
I suffer from really bad LP, I live 15min away from Syd CBD. Id say my sky glow has to be about a mag 3, its crazy. I use the CLS clip in my unmodded canon 1000d. It's took me a while to figure out how to get rid of that blue hue that it gives to everything. I do this my changing the white balance on the raw's manually.
I'm quiet happy with it but I still cant stretch my subs longer than about 8min. I'm just beginning anyway so I'm happy to be doing 8 min subs because before I got the the clip I was lucky to get 3min subs.

Can I still use the AF & most EF lenses with the clip-on for widefields?
You're right there MrB, 3x as Bright. Neighbours now have the streetlight glare shining right into their masterbedroom window like carheadlights. I feel sorry for them.
The council really went overboard, looking down my street the lights are so bright it's ridiculous; I wonder if you can request shades be placed over the lights outside the premise to reduce the brightness? It doesnt stop burglars, they'll walk right up your driveway at night anyway and just wait for someone to stop them or scare them away.
Back on topic; majority of these comparisons are with DSLR's ?
The IDAS-LPS2 seems to be more aggresive ? Any comparisons avail between the two IDAS-LPS filters?
Im also using the Vixen FR and adaptors and also wondering whether the 2" or Frnt Clip would be better suited? I plan to use the ED80 for widefield also.
I'm using the clip not the 2" version, but I'd get the 2" version if I could do it again. You cannot put the lense on the camera with the clip in place. So wide field shots are out of the question for me.

In one of the previous threads (I can not find it now .. and I apologise for un-authorised posting) there were two images posted as comparison, taken from heavy polluted area, with and without Hutech filter.
I applied my standard curve stretch procedure on both.. and surprise, surprise... see for yourself.
Image without filter is not that much different.. hardly to justify $250. Or I am missing something here?
Now I wonder why should I buy a LP filter at all ?

Thats interesting. Someone told me the only lens you cannot use with the clip-on filter is the EF-S series. What lens have you got?
