Illumination

This was just one of those magic moments you're glad you have your camera with you.

We took an afternoon 4WD tour of Glenorchy and the Paradise Valley today, visiting numerous fascinating sites not far from Queenstown.

This scene presented itself as we drove into the riverbed of the Dart River.

Incidentally...this is the location for Isengard in the Lord of the Rings movies.

Hope you like it.

Fantastic shot Matt! Like Andrew said, that would have been a very strong contender in the photo comp last month!

Cheers,
Stephen

It reminds me how fragile and dependent our lives are on the reach of the life-giving sun.

Beautiful shot.

Hi Matt

Wow – a stunning photo; well done, the scene would be have been quite challenging to record in order to set the correct exposure to display what is a very wide range of tones.

Is this straight from the camera, as I presume you’re not lugging a PC and Photoshop around with you?

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks all.

Dennis - it's pretty much straight out of the camera, however, we are travelling with a MSi U100 'Wind' laptop with CS3 installed.

I carried out some very minor tweaks prior to posting. Just the usual levels and curves, a little white balance adjustment and some minor work in Camera Raw.

Cheers
