Tonight's object while doing more GEM drive refining.
A small frame count but I managed to get some detail.

Edit: added a resize result using Bspline 2.0x

I have taken the eight burst as my favourite Planetary Nebula
Under High magnification., 300xmag the oscillation disappears but lots of detail is seen.

My favourite too Ron.
The more I sit and look at it with the 12" mid power, the more it starts
to spook me like I'm being looked at

Remote Desktop is SOOOOOO cool.
It was VERY cold last night and this and a few other capture sets
were all done while cosy indoors with a few coffees and the kids
playing with LEGO at my feet

Steve,when I showed it to the gang at Barambah DarkSky Camp a couple of months ago, the wows came thick and fast
Jeanette even took some images of it, they didn't come out bad, but as she said could be better
Can't wait for the Moonie and Cloudy nights to go away so as I can get back into some observing

Hi Steve,

These are great shots once again.

Was wondering whether there were any problems reaching focus with the DSI II with the 12inch GSO. Did you need to do any mods? Ive just received my DSI III and a friend (Tilt) has a GSO 10inch - we are keen to give it a go.

If you had a few colour filters lying around it would be great to see what you could do with a colour version!

The short multiple exposure low S/N approach seems to really work a treat.

Yes David, I did the 50mm chop as per Clive's great article here:

This easily brings the DSI II into focus even with the homemade
filter wheel assembly attached, which adds approx 22mm to the
equation.

I have tried a few colour sets.
Nothing earth shattering to offer so far.
A lot is down to inexperience.
Colour balance is hard to get right. The Meade set (cheap) need
about 10sec exposures of RGB to match the 5sec luminosity subs.
No science here, no G2V calibration done yet...all estimates so far.

Hi Steve,

Cant wait to post some shots - hopefully it will fine up soon.I think I'm the cause of the horrific cloudy weather here in Canberra (new toy).

Did a quick trial run on the moon yesterday but it didnt quite reach focus - had to alter the flip mirror arrangment a bit and screw the DSI on rather than using the eyepiece nose piece which takes up extra space. All seems to be running well though.

I think combining the colours will be challenging although I have got some quite good filters I bought off a friend. Happy for any tips you may have.

You must be very happy with your results - extremely promising.
