Lagoon and Unknown 29 May 2009

Two Images from last night

C8 SCT f/10, Canon 300D, HEQ5Pro, Guided

Left- Lagoon Nebula, 5 min exposure. I had the Skyglow 1A filter attached, seems to have caused a lot of signal loss, needs more exposure. My first shot of Lagoon Nebula

Right- Unknown, 42s exposure. I found this near Crux while looking for IC 2944. Anyone know what it is? I believe it's one of the planetary nebula around IC2944. Let me know if I'm wrong though.

Cheers, Rob

Tracking seems good Rob, which is easier said than done at that FL for 5mins. I find my pollution filter takes out about 20-30% available light, which is ok if it reduces orange washout. Have you done much processing and stretching to the Lagoon? May well be a lot more that can be revealed.

Can't help with the 2nd one sorry - there are gurus here that may recognise though.
