Handy tip for setting up your illuminated reticule eyepiece on a Newt.

Hi guys.

Not sure if this is common knowledge or not but I stumbled on this a little while ago and thought id share it in case it's not.

Also I'm not sure it this only works because of the way I have my focuser aligned in relation to the mount. Let me know if it works for you.

Attached is a diagram of the way I point my illuminator and it aligns the cross hairs perfectly with the movement of the scope. I don’t have to switch off the tracking to see where the star drifts to align the cross hair.

Let me know if it works for you.

Sandy

I found on my old scope that if you had the reticule aligned with the lock nut on the focuser it was perfect.
basically the same as what you've drawn only inverted 180 degrees.
