Not me. Giving it a total miss.
Too cold this time of year, for me. Saving all my monies for another book or two, perhaps. Mt Nullo last night was 3.7 degrees. Mudgee 1.1 (with the wind -3.6) at 6pm.
Everyone driving there should take care on the roads, especially with unfamiliar conditions of country roads - often made worst in poor weather.

I will be going on Thursday to give myself a chance to set up for an all new photo session. Something I have never tried before. I have just spent a frustrating morning balancing the camera/OTA/OAG and CCD guider (on LX200 classic), cutting slices off a bit of steel bar and bolting them on the scope till it balanced

I will have it on a wedge. I got that part right last week.

Today I tried to get familiar with PHD and an Orion guider and find the general focal point (luckily I have a counter on the focus so I should be able to find it again). I made a new Hartman mask last Saturday, took all day to get right. If you don't like "Hot" language don't come within earshot on Thursday or Friday night, especially if it rains.

I originally bought a 16" lightbridge to play with at the Star party but decided at the last moment (with some prompting from my son) to leave it home as there is not enough room to transport it and everything else. If anyone (with good references) has a van and no scope and would like to borrow it for the weekend speak up now or forever hold your peace.

Barry

I like how he blames me for his over excited wallet. First I knew of this was when he told me he had just bought an autoguider and wedge.

Actually it was Marc's (Multiweb's) fault, he showed us what you can do with an off-axis guider, and Barry says to me "I've already got one of those!" and as they say, the rest is history.

See you all friday!

What's the bet it's clouded out ?

Or raining... the forecast for Mudgee shows light rain from Wed right through Sunday.

Opening times at Wiruna

Just a reminder that the SPSP is held from Fri. 22 May to Sun 24 May inclusive.

As the ASNSW site reminds attendees -
"Please Note: Entry to Wiruna will only be from 9.00 am Friday 22 May
and not before."

Over the years, an increasing number of people were arriving on days before
the official opening which I recollect the Society had noted was becoming
a problem for several reasons. Firstly, the success of the SPSP depends
on a small group of hard working volunteers, most of whom have regular
day jobs and are unable to be present at Wiruna except during the event itself.
As regular visitors to Wiruna will also appreciate, the site only has a finite
supply of tank water and is not connected to the town water supply.

So I know that based on the message from previous years and re-iterated
by the reminder again on the web site this year, the Society would love to
see you all at Wiruna but not before the gates open at 9.00am Fri 22 May.

Marc, you better bring those dancing shoes. I want you to be dancing that "no cloud" jig you do so well, at Wiruna.

Hi guys,

I wouldn't miss a SPSP, unfortunately it seems to be the only time during the year I manage to get up there. Oh to be back in the mid 80's when we purchased the property and I was up there most months.

It will be cold, I remember being up there alone one winter and thinking someone was following me as I walked around at night. I'd stop and so would they! It was the sound of ice on the ground breaking underfoot.

This will be the first time I've had my LB 16" up there! Now if it rains don't blame me, it's been used a number of times before!

See you there!

Regards

Glenn
