13th May Jupiter

Hi all,

Had some fun with the cooling of my scope, ended up 5 degrees below ambient and after only 3 avis the primary became covered in dew. The seeing was only about 6/10, with some wind from the north off of the land.

Got the GRS just before it dissapeared. Because the primary dewed up, I wasn't able to get Io and Europa at 6A.M. in very close proximity, without eclipsing.

Nice result Lester, looks about the seeing I got this morning before it turned to rubbish.

Anthony was reporting very good seeing at his house! Hopefully he's got something nice!

Nice work Lester, those small dark spots are interesting, aren't they? I could see them this morning, they were a good indicator of the seeing, they disappear whenever it turned to rubbish.

Got the Europa/Io occultation, but it was pretty much at sunrise so the seeing wasn't so great. Will see how it turns out...

cheers, Bird

Thanks Mike, Trevor and Anthony.

Yes I have not noticed the small dark spots before.

So Io and Europa did occult; the Jupiter2 program showed them just missing. Looking forward to your images.

Yeah, looked like they merged, but I can't really know much more until I look at the video more closely. Most of the data was bad due to the seeing.

cheers, Bird
