Venus in daylight, 3May09

Hi all,

I was looking at Venus this morning, and followed it until over an hour after sunrise. It was still very clearly visible with the naked eye at this stage. I wanted to try and get some afocal images in a bright sky to reduce the contrast, and the best shots are attached. Both taken with a hand-held Pentax K100D and 70-300mm lens on 70mm, through my 130mm Newt with 20mm and 10mm eyepieces, respectively.

Cheers,
Stephen

Excellent job Stephen,

Very good image scale and a top effort for afocal work.

Well done

That's amazing ... the brightness of this planet, to be visible after sunrise.

Nicely done.

Thanks guys. I think this is about as good as I can achieve using the hand-held afocal approach.

Cheers,
Stephen
