4 more from Barambah (M104, M64, M57, M49)

Spent some time today processing these galaxies and planetary neb from last weekend's Barambah dark sky camp.

M104 Sombrero galaxy: 7x10mins
M64 Black Eye galaxy: 6 x 10mins
M57 Ring Nebula: 3 x 10mins, 2" 2x Barlow
M49 Galaxy in Virgo: 4 x 10mins

All taken 450D on 8" with MPCC

Ring was shot at about 3am on the first night, and only did a few pics with the barlow in as an experiment - didn't bother recentering and finding a new guidestar, thus the unusual framing.

Black eye is my fav I think.

A terrific portfolio Rob – well done. Some lovely detail in the galaxies. You were obviously a very busy bee at Barambah!

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks for looking everyone. Glad you enjoyed - was a real buzz hunting them down!

Think I've overcooked M49 and some finer detail in the background galaxies - more to learn there. Not happy with how the Sombrero has ended up either. Surprisingly difficult to get it right - although bright its a somewhat smaller galaxy (than say M83) leading to a temption to crop, which bloats the surrounding stars...

Don't get me wrong though - had a ball on the field and tweaking afterwards!

Jeanette - I'm always going to remember seeing that first frame of M49 coming through - had no idea there'd be tantalising glimses of so many others in the field for a "spur of the moment" object!

Ron, I've said again to Steve he's welcome to use any of the pics for the website. Least I can do in return for such a great stay.

An offer we greatly appreciate Rob, and we'll definitely feature some or all of your images. I too love all the background galaxies you've caught there too, but you're M83 image is still my favourite so far. Great stuff Rob, and I sure hope to see more of your images along the way.

~cheers~
