Wanted: Old radio parts and small electronic components

Anyone that lives locally in the Western Suburbs of Sydney that has any old wireless radio parts they just couldn't bring themselves to throw out but still have, I'll take them off your hands. I'm just starting to get interested in the hobby of building radios and crystal sets etc. and am looking for old parts.

If you live afar, then I'll pay for the postage. I don't want out and out junk, it still has to have some redeemable features, you will know what I mean. I'll take complete radios that are not working and ones that are but are in bad condition, whatever I have to learn on something.

Even different sizes of copper wires, screws, brackets, and if anyone has any antennas for short wave I'd love to take that off your hands as well. I'll come and pick up from local people. PM for my mobile number.

Oh yes, one last thing, if you have any old original manuals or books that came with the radios, then I love them also, especially if they have schematics included.

Thanks for reading this far.

Update

I forgot to mention that I will purchase working older radios, by older I mean anything from the 1930's through till about 1970 or thereabouts. I'll pay more if they are working of course. Plus amateur receivers, ham, multi band etc. plus antennas, in fact anything to do with wireless in general, old Realistic units, Kenwood, whatever. I have cash and I have a telescope mount (EQ5 plus clock drive) plus other stuff, let's start talking and do a deal

I also forgot to mention that I'm keen to acquire any well constructed antenna masts, as well as antennas for HAM & SWL, I can trade, accept, swap or work towards a deal, anything is possible. Naturally for larger equipment, living in or around Sydney is an advantgae, however for radios they can come from anywhere.

Well to be totally honest (and we all try to be honest don't we), I don't have a flamin clue, it could be anything. It's outside on a pier, wrapped in a dozen plastic bags to protect it from the weather.

I could look tomorrow in the daylight, but then I'd have to charge you extra for the plastic bags .... just kidding

Actually thinking about it, I can say I've never see a name on it, it's probably a 'no-name' brand, I can tell you I got it with a 6" Synta telescope a few years ago, does that help at all?

Images of the EQ5

I hope these images come out ok, it's of an EQ5 mount, which is curently on a permanent pier (not part of this deal), the top part of the mount, sits on the tripod which is shown separately and then the clock drive is battery operated for out on the field.

So if anyone want's this you can buy it, but I'd rather have Radio parts than cash, I'm after HAM radio's (any age, working), antennas, antenna masts (those big ugly metal contraptions), whatever. I'm aware that the same type of people that like radio also like astronomy, so perhaps someone wants to trade, if you just want to buy the mount, make an offer (sensible offer), I'm also after CB radios, scanners, and some electronic equipemnt, such as oscilloscope, multimeter, soldering iron, actually, I'm really open to any trade, so lets talk (PM).

Okay, the EQ5 has gone, it been sold, however I still want your radio's, any type or style, age or condition. I'm collecting them, cleaning them, repairing them, looking at them and sometimes using them, so if you have a radio that you no longer use, let me know.

This includes all types of radio, receiver, transceiver, scanner, any frequencies. Thanks for reading and for all those IIS members (you guys know who you are), who have already donated your stuff to me, I truly appreciate it and thank you sincerely.

Awesome.
Sorry, I haven't got anything to offer you, but was starting to fear you were being ignored.
(Was a very one-sided conversation you were having in here )

Good stuff.

Just as an afterthought, I'm also interested in a 'mast' or 'tower', it can be a solid welded type, one that bends in the middle, one that winds up, or any other design as long as it's got some reasonable height to it, when fully erect. This 'junk' of yours, would be very interesting to me

Are you interested in marine stuff? I am the captain of a ship, we have Radio direction finder, old VHFs, etc. All 20 year old so no valve/tube gear. All will be thrown out if no one wants it.

I used to buy heaps of old crap (sorry, cool electro and radio stuff) from a place in Bulli called Cavion's. They had piles of surplus electrical and electronic gear from the army, air force, power company, PMG...... I bought a 200kW magnetron (9.6-11.0GHz) which I still have. My genitals are thankfull I haven't found a PSU big enough to drive the filament! They even used to have old computers, such as Dec PDP-8's, and tons of WWII aircraft gauges.
I think Cavions is still there, but I don't think they have the radio shed any more, since old Mr Cavion left (died?) a decade or so ago.

Cheers,
Jason.

Hi, the short answer is yes, but i don't have a car to get to Bowral and I assume that it would be a somewhat heavy parcel. I don't suppose you or a close friend or family member actually venture towards Sydney occasionally? I'm easy to find in Prospect, near Blacktown, the centre of my universe and almost the centre of the greater metropolitan area of Sydney, however about thirty other suburbs also claim the same tile, they can't all be the centre, can they

So please don't throw any of it out, that would be a great shame. Please give me an indication if at some stage you would be able to drop it off here, if that is totally out of the question, we might have to have a think about who we can convince to volunteer to help us out if they happen to be passing by.

Can you give an indication of the size (volume) and approximate weight, so that we can figure what type of vehicle to borrow?

Hi Jason, thank for the tip, unfortunately I don't have a car, ever since I swapped it for a telescope to an IIS member a couple of years ago, which I then in turn swapped for 10 old radios like a His Masters Voice Sprite to name just one. See it and the other nine at the bottom of this page: http://tailwag.info/reconditioning.aspx click on the first one to enlarge the images.

Anyway, the end result is I can't go and check them out, but I'll do a little research on the net and see if they have a website. Thanks again
