Thumbs up some good news

After having constant problems with my neighbour's lights, I just found out today that they are putting up a wall

The fence seperating our place from theirs has been gradually falling apart because of their bushes and trees which they have been growing up against the fence, and today they were chopping those down. When I was outside, the guy doing the work asked me to throw back a branch that fell in my yard, he informed me that they are putting up a wall where the fence currently is. That means the light will finally be blocked. Oh joy!

Nice one! I know the feeling. I asked the 'landlord' (future Father in Law) to let me move the security light sensor in the garden a bit more to the right. Which gives me much more sky to move into. It's not perfect but every inch counts.

You must introduce your neighbours to mine. Mine need to learn a thing or to about being kind to backyard astronomers.
But tell me, how much of your horizon will be blocked by the wall?

and the Defartment of Suckstainability and Envirotorching (DSE).....they have single handedly ruined 2 clear new moon periods in a row. The mere mention of the DSE's name has me reaching for the sedatives....

actually these neighbours are nobs. Long story but cant be stuffed going into it. They are only putting it in because the existing fence has been mangled over time by their trees and plants. The wall won't block any sky from me, as it's on the opposite side of the house from my observing area - the house takes up half the sky.

That's great. As long as they're paying for the wall, all should be well. (Hope it will be high enough though.) And what's more it won't need replacing like a wooden fence.

Yep they're paying for it. Although these last few months, I couldn't stargaze at all thanks to the DSE ruining TWO CLEAR new moon periods in a row.

Why can't the DSE just go away and die

Yes, but then there are those who accuse the DSE of not doing enough; to wit those who lost their astro-shacks and abodes in the recent fires. I reckon that one way or another, its a no-win situation.

Good for you. My neighbour subdivided his property and now theres a new house at the back of the block overlooking my backyard.
He is in the process of moving in.

This is an Australian forum.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/neighbour

Quote:
–verb (used without object)
9. to live or be situated nearby.
10. to associate with or as if with one's neighbors; be neighborly or friendly (often fol. by with).

Also, especially British, neighbour.
I use the English, ergo Australian spelling

neighbours are putting their fence up as we speak Looks like it'll be pretty tall so it will definately block out their freaking light, which as usual was on flooding my entire backyard ALL NIGHT yet again.
