Those of us in Melbourne have been lucky this week, beautiful clear nights, three in a row. Really allows for some long imaging runs. Took the data for this one over the last two nights.
Messier 83 in LRGB.
3 Hours luminance, 30 minutes for each colour all unbinned, all 10 minute subs.
Meade 10"RCX @ f/8, SBig ST-10XME, AO8.
Hope you like it.
Does anyone have a way to remove the halos from the bright stars?
Beaut shot Stu. You caught a few faint fuzzies in the background but the top two are good and sharp and clear. Great detail in the arms. You can see the concentrated clustering of star formation within.
Ooh Yeah! Really nice! That's on my list of things to do at f/10 on the C11 maybe this week-end. I hope I can come even close to what you got. Top shot
nice rendition, the detail in the core was unexpected

unfortunately the burning off in the Yarra Valley ruined it here, it seems incredible that days to burn off neatly coincide with good imaging nights, ..... clear skies and little wind.
Great image Stuart, So much detail in the galaxy and the colour is very nice. Looks like the ACF makes a nice imaging scope. The halos don't really detract from the image.
Nice, well done.
As for your halos around stars, I would venture a guess that they are either reflections from filters, or from the corrector plate.. I used to get reflections like this from my C11 on bright stars, although they were never quite as prominent... how to remove them?? I never found out..
