Saturn from tonight 25th after collimating

ok so my first saturn was ok, but collimation was out....so after some minor collimation tonight I came up with this

Excellent work. Much better. Now though, you've got to re-align the RGB channels.

Registax can do that on the wavelets tab. That'll get rid of the blue on one side and red on the other, and it'll look even better.

Good stuff , A well collimated scope does and will produce excellent images.

Thanks for the comments guys....I just re ran it in registax and used the RGB align.....Thanks Mike

I am new to using registax and didnt even know you could do that

. Any way here is the result.....much better.

Great shot Mart. I love these comparisons, especially when the advice given by others is applied.

The before and after collimation shot is BRILLIANT to illustrate WHY we do these things. Mike's simple but very important tip on the RGB align speaks for itself with your second image. Wow, what a difference.

Like I have learned with things like focus programs and curves adjustment, you can only do so much by eye, but you can't beat the numbers or ignore the histogram.

Thanks guys I am now looking at getting a shot at Jupiter, I was going to stay up last night, but 2 things stopped me...

1. dew (Had to tell the wife I need something else for the scope

)
2. I was knackered and falling asleep in my chair.

Going to try and stay up tonight (weather permitting) as in WA we have a long weekend, so no work for me tomorrow

Looking through the three images shows a huge & graphical improvement.

I'd be mighty pleased with that effort, best of luck with Jupiter.
