8mm ethos or 17mm radian?

Hey Everyone

Just a quick one, but I've seen a cheap 8mm ethos, i did the calculations and the true field of view will equal that to my 17mm radian......
Consequently I've raised the question.... is there any true and noticeable difference that can be achieved with the 8mm ethos over the radian? considering the maths suggest that there isn't any big difference?

Many thanks

Trent

One question that I would have is what are the magnifications the eyepieces would produce in your telescope? If the 8mm ethos would produce very high magnifications (>250x)it might be something that you can't use a lot unless seeing is exceptional. If it was to give you a more modest mag, I would go for an ethos over a radian any day. Even then, a cheap ethos would be pretty hard to go past....
