Ice discounts at Retailers?

Hi all,
Just getting everything together to get ready to purchase a new scope and was interested to know if there are any retailers that give a discount to Ice members. (other than York - seem more expensive than everywhere else)

I've only been on this forum for 2 days, and given the volume of recommendations and links from this site to Andrews Communications, I'd be surprised if the favour wasn't returned!

I expect the astro retailers are doing it pretty tough in the current economic climate.....may be a bit tough to expect too many discounts at this time.

If you were intending to buy a Televue product, such as eyepieces, then Bintel has some excellent savings at the moment on Televue stuff.

I agree with the push we give Andrews but i find there prices are normally way under all the others that they would not discount anyways.

At times they have there own specials like free shipping and such.

depending on the product and the availability, most of the retailers have a special that is worth it, whether it is Sirius Optics, Star Optical, Bintel, Astro optical, york optical, Astronomy on line, Myastrshop, andrews, etc. Ahh spread it round, you cant spend it when your deceased!!

If you can support the local industry then do so, but sometimes it pays to buy direct from the manufacturer, or OS retail just for price alone.

of course remember not to buy when its coming up to the next new moon LOL

The downside to discounts for IIS members is that the vendor offering may be expecting something in return from IIS with regard to the way it is run.

No worries thanks for the thoughts. I wasn't expecting a discount from any of the retailers ( other than York who advertises the fact here ), just interested to see if other retailers did a similar thing to York. I will be buying a scope soon and just want to get the most bang for my buck.

That will never happen - advertisers will always be advertisers only and won't/don't have any influence in the way the site is run.
