QHY5 and PHD problems.. what a mess!

Hi All

Got my QHY5 and installed PHD (version 1.10.0)
I installed the drivers from the ccd website ( qhyccd.com )
Installation successful with both USB drivers installed (QHY5 and EZUSB)
It will only connect to the Orion Star Shoot DSCI, but it will connect to the mount( heq5pro). When looping I get a black screen and phd locks up.

Uninstalled and reinstalled the QHy drivers and PHD software.
Tried another USB port on the 4 port PCMCIA card Im using no joy
Grabbed another Lappy (both lappys are Dells running XP professional SP2) and tried all the above again with same result so me thinks its a driver issue not a hardware issue with the camera at this stage
CMOSDLL.dll is installed in the PHD dir.
I ran the install file and the inf and sys files are in the appropriate dirs

Before I waste another few hours and getting down into registry issues s some dumb Questions.....

1) Which camera am I connecting to?
I cant believe I actually have to ask that question!
From further reading I believe it should be CCD Labs Q Guider not the one I connected to?
Problem is that it wont connect.

2) If it is the CCD Labs Q Guider
I believe I need the latest driver from http://www.astrosoft.be/
Am I choosing the CCd Labs Qguider link? and installing those drivers
I presume so.

Any advice would help!

Thanks again
cheers
Damian

I always connect with Q Guider, works for me. Drivers from Tom's (Astrosoft) site. I have installed, uninstalled, many times, never played with the registry, and suggest unless you know what you are doing not to. Did you run the "Hidden Bat" file when you uninstalled?

You should be checking with the place you got the camera, as it should have drivers with it and help on how to install the camera. Unless its second hand, it should be backed up.

I have an eq6 and starshoot autoguider (a qhy5 in different pants) and I cannot get it to run with the usb cable only, so I use the on camera setting when connecting to the mount in phd, and then use the st4 output on the camera, and plug that direct into the autoguider port on the mount. Thats if you have that cable... and they are hard to get at your local electronics shop.

I make my own cables, so if you need a specific length, visit my web site and look in the QHY-5 prices for various lengths.
