Forum changes since the upgrade

Thanks to Terry for upgrading to the latest version of the IceInSpace forum software, a couple of new changes/features which some of you may be interested in:

Private Message Changes

  • A new Quick Reply can be used to reply to PM's.
  • A new user option is available to set the default value for 'Save Copy' which is also used with Quick Reply.
  • PM's can be ordered by Title, Date and Sender.
  • Private Messages can be filtered by Sender, Title, a given date period, and whether the message has been read or not.
  • Message selections are remembered over multiple pages for bulk actions (Move, delete, mark as read etc).

There are many other changes behind the scenes to the forum software, many of which aren't enabled right now. We'll look at which features might be beneficial for our community and perhaps turn them on down the track.

If you see anything out of the ordinary or have any questions, please post here.

Subscriptions: When viewing your thread subscriptions, "empty current folder" will remove all the subscriptions in one go. (ok Paul? )

I can't open attachments. When I click on an attachment picture, a new tab opens as usual but no picture. Not even a Thumbnail on the left hand side. I can see the Thumbnails in the message though.

I have just updated to Firefox 3.0.9 so that maybe the problem as well. It worked in Firefox 3.0.8.

I can open attachments on other forums that use the same forum software.

Can you try another browser, such as IE7 or Chrome?

Also make sure:
1) Your firewall allows *.iceinspace.com.au through
2) You allow javascript

Hi Mike,

I've noticed that you've hanged the way the images are displayed.

I was using my webbook before with Firefox 3.0.8 (not logged in) and had no problems. I also tried IE7. Again, no problems.

I came back to this laptop (Firefox 3.0.9) and still had problems displaying images, so I allowed *.iceinspace.com.au in the Pop Ups section and it seems to be working now.

I haven't changed any other settings.

It should not have changed - it's possible that browser upgrades handle things differently.

If you're not logged in, you'll likely get the lightbox image popup browser now. When you are logged in, if it's set in your profile, you'll get the IceInSpace Image Browser.

Anyway i'm glad it's fixed for you!

Presently PM can only be sent to 5 recipients and all five user names have to be typed into the recipients box. I was wondering if there is a way of establishing a group list within the PM structure that would enable a user to send a message to a group name and each of the members of the group would receive the message.
