Meteor Last night - amazing

Did anyone see the "meteor" last night.. approx 11:50pm moving north east directly overhead. I was in Anglesea Vic and the sight was absolutely incredible. Im not sure how long the tail was but it was visible for several seconds and covered a large portion of the sky. The head was glowing white and with a bluish green tail. I initially thought it must be space junk due to the colour. Any ideas?

I was hyped for the next hour or so! It was the colour and size of it that was astounding.

I had one of "those" nights last night when everything went wrong with tracking, lappy, USB ports playing up the list goes on etc... I had given up for the night and was really flat as it was a beautiful dark sky here when I looked up and saw that! wow

Yes, I saw it, but it was earlier than the time you say, so it must have been a different one! I was in Sorrento, Vic and it was due east between maybe 9.30-10pm on Friday night. It lasted for 2 seconds I guess and had a length of 2 handspans.

Excellent Dluth, yep definitely different to the one I saw and glad Im not the only one who saw something specky like that!
The one I saw closer to midnight astounded me not only from the colour and size but the fact that large chunks were falling away from it until it finally disappeared. It was jaw dropping stuff. bugger I wish someone else had seen it!
