First of all, this is not a complaint against IIS. It is also not an attack on those that complain against moderation. It is simply a suggestion to those that feel concerned, a solution that personally satisfies my desires of online community involvement.
There are many forums out there, and I post in several of them. I don't feel obliged in any way to call any one forum "my home". If I want to discuss astronomy or general chit chat, I post here, but if I want to delve into a deep political discussion I take it elsewhere. One of the other forums I am a member of is
Overclockers Australia, a forum built up by computer hardware enthusiasts that has expanded into one of Australias largest forums, catering to discussion of everything from computer hardware to food. It has a forum specifically for current events, where political discussion takes place. If I want to talk politics, I discuss it here. As an example, it has a 47 page thread dedicated to the alcopops tax.
My point is, there are many different forums out there, and if one forum doesn't satisfy all your needs then expand your online posting portfolio, and post the appropriate discussion in the appropriate forum.
