For the following shot I also tried coupling a Wratten 82A filter and resized the image with Bell Resampling at 200% in Registax to "try" and bring out some of the detail in the terminator. It did not really work!
See the result:
I'm no expert on filters John K but I use an aperture mask & either a fringe killer or a contrast booster at the same time. Works for me. Nice images BTW!
Wow!
John K, I see your a climber (and pilot!! - anything you dont do?) from your website. I used to rockclimb for a few years locally - till i tore my right knee cartilage completely in half while doing a grade 19 (about as high as i got ;-( bit sad lol) i really miss it - best fun/sport i ever did/had - but i cant afford that much time on crutches/in physio again - ;(

Thanks everyone, yep have tried a few things over the years, but as a friend of mine use to say "astronomy will always be your friend". Took me 5+ years between selling my old dobby and getting this scope!
Kearn - sorry to hear about your rock climbing accident, falling is the worst bit about climbing, have only had one fall, so my motto from there on is "never fall again!".
Got up at 3 am this morning for Mars - it was raining again!! - I think that was the 3rd time that has happened in like 1.5 weeks.
