ghost of Jupiter

While waiting for Saturn to get enough elevation to image the Titan transit, I tried for the Ghost of Jupiter with the Astro 40D on the 14" at f6.3 .

I found that 20 seconds was the longest I could go without burning out the centre of the planetary nebula.

Focus is a bit off, due to the lack of time I could spend on it. This is a stack of 4 x 20 seconds.

This must be quite a crop Lester ... I did an image of the ghost quite some time ago and it was very small in frame like a very large blue star.

You've captured nice detail on this ... well done mate !

Steve, Do take into account that this shot was at ~2378mm focal length... Its going to be a fair bit closer than with your newt or your FLT110

Sheesh, thats impressive, I havent been game to do that one yet, the 14" apature at F6.3 sure helps, and on a DSLR !!!, top work. (Whaa, 20sec subs?)

Fair enough but I still think it's a crop ... I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that either by the way ... just commenting that the ghost is a small sucker to capture and Lester has done a good job.
