Did the Earth move for you?
We were just sitting in the lounge around 8:55 tonight when I noticed the cat looked around as if a visitor was about to ring the front doorbell. Then I heard a rattle that sounded like a possum running across the roof. Then the windows began to shake a little. After about 10 or 15 seconds it went quiet....the cat however, took several minutes to settle down.
I am in Bentleigh in Melbourne, did anyone else feel it?
My prediction is a 2.5 earthquake. Just have to wait for the new tomorrow to see if I am correct.

yes - we felt a bit of shaking, and the house did a bit of rattling and creaking as well. Seemed to go for at least 10 seconds or so.

Trevor,
We got it down here in Mornington the house moved a fair bit. The house seemed to sway from side to side a bit.
All the family jumped up out of the lounge and wanted to know what was happening.
I was sitting at the computer and could fell real movement in the house.
Only lasted about 5 to 10 seconds. Friends rang and it has been felt futher south than us. All the way up to you.
This is the 3rd tremor in 15 years down here I have felt.

We heard the windows vibrate and a small rumble but didn't think much of it, until I read this post and the time frame ties in perfectly.

Felt like 100 kph wind hit the house.
You know the sound when air is blowing a bit through the tiles.
Sounded like rain hitting the windows then the house shook about 3 seconds afterwards and lasted for about 5 to 6 seconds
Kids didn't feel a things

it was a beauty here in carrum.
10 seconds, full rock and roll.
Dogs didnt do anyting, so much for that old wives tale!
Best for melb in my lifetime, felt two prior.
Its the tiles rattling on the roof that give it away.
The couch jumping up and down and moving across the floor is also a good indication.

Huge Snow Blizzard, then the flood.
Why not all in one year huh, after the fires and all.
The flood is coming. I've predicted rain for March-May to higher than expected.
Felt it too in Narre. Thought it was a huge gust of psycotic wind, but checked outside, no wind at all.
Then thought santa was on the roof. lol. Dam missed him again.

The doomsday nutters will be having a field day with this.
I've mentioned previously on this forum, my theory regarding mass beachings of whales and their relationship to earthquakes.
One again it's proven right!
There was the beaching at Tassie earlier this week and now we have the earthquake.

felt it and heard the rumbling noise nicely here in Berwick. Rattled the house a fair bit and my bro in Fentree gully reports things falling off shelfs. Dogs started barking aswell.
