Eye of a dragonfly

Hi all,

Here's a close-up of a dragonfly's face taken this morning. There was a bit of breeze so most of my shots didn't work well, but this one caught a bit of detail.

Cheers,
Stephen

Nice shot....I'd hate to have to sit and count all the individual facets of the ommatidia....there's thousands of them!!!!.

Eddie, this was taken with the Pentax 50mm macro. I'm still without a flash and reliant on natural lighting, so I'm generally limited to narrow depth of field. This image suffers a bit because of that, but it's still a bit of fun!

Cheers,
Stephen

Beautiful!

I used to have a little eyepiece thingy that when you looked through it the view was as though through a compound eye like that of the the dragon fly. Imagine the human brain (as it is) trying to process such an image into a single figure...we would need lots of red wine or some nice astro stacking software.
